Hearts 'n' Hands - Polymer Clay Craft Program

Hearts 'n' Hands Polymer Clay Crafts

The participants of Hearts 'n' Hands Work Enrichment are accountable for most aspects of the production of our Hearts'n' Hands polymer clay crafts. These are hand crafted by the participants with non-toxic clay-like modeling materials which are hardened to create a variety of sports-team pen sets and gift pens. Please see our Polymer Clay product page for complete details.

Training for Our Participants

Everyone who participates in the Hearts n Hands polymer clay program receives in depth training and visual aids provided by our experienced job coaches. Each participant is introduced to the various tasks necessary to choose colors, select a design, soften/condition the clay, cut/shape the clay, and assemble the final product. Creativity is encouraged throughout the preparation process and modified training is provided for every individual and paced to align with each persons learning capabilities. The level of responsibly is gradually increased in line with each participants progress. Work partners are established as appropriate to foster team work and increase independence through the reduction of job coach assistance.

Participants with the aptitude and interest are also provided with the opportunity to help manage the business through data entry into our database which tracks a variety of information including inventory, costs, and sales.

Transferrable Work Skills

The work enrichment program along with the training and hands-on production of polymer clay products teach the participants how to manage their time while planning a craft/project, follow design specifications, prepare and shape clay materials as well as basic data entry, typing, sales, and money skills. These abilities may be transferrable to other job opportunities such as:

  • Food & Assembly Industries The polymer clay knowledge and/or skills maybe transferrable to jobs at craft stores and the step-by-step assembly line skills may be of value to certain manufacturing and/or assembly companies.
